The SEP is a document that describes the socio-economic, demographic, physical, cultural, political and institutional characteristics of a particular LGU. It provides factual bases for planning, decision making, research and action. In addition, it includes an ecological profile to give recognition to the physical, natural and biological environment. It also captures the longitudinal character of the socio-economic development of the city by way using the time-series data and information. This document is a product of the integrated efforts of the Reproductive Health, Population and Development and Gender under the 6^th Country Programme in Olongapo City.
It has been recognized by the Asian Urban Information Center of Kobe (AUICK), an international cooperationnon-governmental organization located in Kobe, Japan, as BEST PRACTICE in the 2009 AUICK Second Conference. It is being emulated by some Asian Countries.
According to some agencies and institutions in Olongapo City, SEP is very useful for planning, programming and advocacy activities.
